Thanks to everyone who participated in the inaugural Race Against Prostate Cancer.

Especially the 500 or so runners and walkers who came out to support the Little Red Door Cancer Agency and the Indiana Cancer Research Foundation in their fight against prostate cancer.

We also salute Reverend Charles Williams for his commitment to generating awareness of prostate cancer and using his struggle to make a difference in the Indianapolis community. It is an honor to have him serving as Honorary Chair of the Race Against Prostate Cancer.

We had a good day weather wise. It got a little warm toward the end, but the relatively low humidity helped a lot. The snow cones were a welcome addition, too.

Below are links to the results of the 5-mile run and 5K competitive walk. The 1-mile fun run/walk and family fitness walk were not timed and scored.

Heartfelt thanks are extended to these folks who helped to make the event very successful:

  • Kline’s Quality Bottled Water provided liquid refreshment along the course and in the rest and recovery area.
  • Indianapolis Police Department for providing safety and traffic control.
  • Indianapolis Department of Public Works for the cones and barricades on the course.
  • The staff of the Indiana War Memorial for their help and for providing a great venue.

SPECIAL THANKS TO THE MANY, MANY VOLUNTEERS. If it wasn’t for these fine folks and the WISH TV-8 personalities, we could not have had such a great and successful event.
