ABOUT
The 5K route will travel through Asa Bales Park, home of an anti-slavery cemetery established during the Underground Railroad era. Asa Bales, the first white settler in Westfield, helped develop the town as a place of safety for escaped slaves seeking freedom.

Participants who pick up their shirt on Friday, will be entered in a drawing for a $50 Gift Certificate to The Running Company, Athletic Annex or Gray Goat Sports (3 to be awarded).

SCORING & RESULTS
DAG Chip System - The DAG Chip System is used for timing the 5K. The chip is attached to the back of the bib number. No wasting time, pick up your bib number and have your chip already in place. All awards and results are based off of starting gun time - not the time that you cross the start line, per USATF rules.

Gift Certificates will be awarded to the top three male and female finishers in each age division of the 5K: $20, $15 and #12. The divisions start at age 20, in 5 year increments. The top three boys and girls will receive trophies in the age divisions 12 & under, 13-14 and 15-19.

NOTE: Masters (Age 40+) are eligible for overall awards too!

PURPOSE
The Underground Railroad Run, sponsored by the Westfield Washington Education Development Foundation, supports college scholarships for seniors as well as teacher grants for creative classroom enrichment.
