The event, traditionally held in January, was moved to November to coordinate with the release of the Mini-Marathon applications. By participating in the Jump the Gun four-mile run, participants can qualify for seeding in the Indianapolis Life 500 Festival Mini-Marathon. The pre-event activities and health screenings, which are open to the public, begin at 7:00am. The competitive four-mile race begins at 8:45am, and the timed and fitness walks begin at 9:00am. Bob Evans is sponsoring a post-race breakfast for runners and walkers from 9-11am. Educational sessions on topics including nutrition, race fitness, training gear, Mini-Marathon logistics and more will be offered. Because of an anticipated early Mini-Marathon sellout, the 500 Festival will provide online registration at the event. Hundreds of runners and walkers are anticipated.
